Meet Your Polk County Doula
Welcome to Bunches of Joy Birth
My name is Kristin, I am a Certified Birth Doula.
I was inspired to become a doula after working with young mothers. My passion is guiding parents to prepare mentally, physically, and emotionally for their journey bringing their newborn into the world.
Birth and the weeks following are a sacred time that deserve respect and compassion.
I am here to the support the pregnancy and birth experience YOU desire by
Recommending community resources
Providing Evidence Based information about natural methods to avoid common interventions
Being there for you and your family as you transition into caring for a newborn
I understand the natural process of birth and believe that you can have a transformational and healing birth experience.
I honor the granny midwives, doulas, and parteras that came before me. May they guide my hands and heart at each birth that I am called to attend.
I attend births alongside a midwife or a professional medical care provider.
I will always defer to your healthcare provider.
As a Doula I do Not:
Perform any clinical tasks (blood pressure, fetal heart monitoring, vaginal exams, or other medical procedures)
Provide prescription medication or medical advice
Make medical decisions for you
Speak to the medical team on your behalf (you, your partner, or family members will speak on your behalf to the clinical staff)
Project my own birth biases, beliefs, and philosophies onto your experience
Midwives, doctors, and nurses offer a level of medical expertise that comes with many years of education, training and hands on experience. Let's value their skills and talents!
